ICD-10-GM and ICD-11

Classifications of diseases. In Germany, ICD-10-GM remains the official classification for diagnoses in care until ICD-11 is introduced.

Abbreviation
ICD
Also called
ICD-10, ICD-11, classification

The ICD is the International Classification of Diseases. The expert overview names ICD-11 and the DSM-5 as the diagnostic criteria currently in force and places autism there among the “neurodevelopmental disorders”. [1]

According to the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM), ICD-10 remains the valid official classification in Germany, until ICD-11 is introduced in the relevant area of application, and ICD-10-GM for diagnoses in outpatient and inpatient care. Introducing ICD-11 for coding diagnoses will take several more years. [2]
