Widerspruch (objection to a decision)

A legal remedy against an official decision (Bescheid). It must be submitted in writing, or for the record, to the body that issued the decision within one month of notification.

Also called
objection procedure, administrative appeal

A decision (Bescheid) you do not agree with can be challenged with a Widerspruch (objection). The objection must be submitted within one month of the decision being notified, in writing or for the record, to the body that issued the decision. [1] If the decision lacks the notice on the legal remedy, this deadline does not start to run. [2]

Legal position as of: 8 October 2026. This is not legal advice; in an individual case, advice centres or lawyers specialising in social law can help.
