Merkzeichen (disability marks)

Entries in the severe disability card that prove certain health requirements for disadvantage compensation, for example G, B, H or aG.

Merkzeichen (marks) are entries in the severe disability card that prove certain health requirements for disadvantage compensation. The Ordinance on Severe Disability Cards names eight marks for the back of the card: aG, H, Bl, Gl, RF, 1. Kl., G and TBl; the mark B (accompanying person) is on the front. [1]

For people with autism, the Bundesverband autismus Deutschland often names the marks H, B and G as possible. [2] The law, however, does not tie them to the diagnosis, but to the effects in the individual case.
