Equal status with severely disabled people

People with a degree of disability (GdB) of 30 to under 50 can, on application to the Federal Employment Agency, be treated as equal to severely disabled people at work if they could otherwise not obtain or keep a suitable job.

Also called
Gleichstellung, treated as severely disabled

People with a GdB of 30 to under 50 are to be treated as equal if the further statutory requirements are met and the disability prevents them from obtaining or keeping a suitable job without equal status. [1] Equal status is granted on application by the Federal Employment Agency, takes effect on the day the application is received and can be limited in time. The special rules for severely disabled people apply to people with equal status, with the exception of § 208 (additional leave) and Chapter 13. [2]
