Special educational needs

Legal finding that a child needs special educational support. Each federal state regulates for itself who decides on the place of learning and what is needed; as an example, Art. 41 BayEUG applies.

Also called
need for support

Pupils of compulsory school age with special educational needs fulfil their compulsory schooling in Bavaria by attending the general school or the special school (Förderschule). The special school is accessible if special educational support is necessary. After counselling, the persons with parental responsibility choose the place of learning; admission to a special school requires a special educational expert report.
