Disadvantage compensation in vocational training

The Vocational Training Act provides that rules on training and examinations take account of the special circumstances of disabled people, for example for examination times and aids.

Also called
disadvantage compensation in training exams, § 64 and § 65 BBiG

Disabled people within the meaning of § 2 para. 1 sentence 1 SGB IX are to be trained in recognised training occupations. [1] The rules for the training regulations and the examination are to take account of the special circumstances of disabled people. This applies in particular to the timing and content structure of training, the length of examination times, the admission of aids and the use of help from third parties. [2] This is a disadvantage compensation in training; for school, disadvantage compensation under state law applies. More is in the article Vocational training with autism: support and rights. Whether and which adjustment is granted in an individual case is decided by the competent body (chamber, training company).

Legal status: 08.10.2026. This is not legal advice; in an individual case, counselling services or specialist lawyers for social law can help.
